A Video Arcade has been something I had grown up with for a good long, especially during the late '70s through the '80s and into the '90s. There were a few Home Console Systems out at the time, but the graphics couldn't compare to what the Video Arcade had in the early days of Video Games.
The Video Arcade graphics seemed to be a million times better than the Home Console graphics in the early years of Video Games. I remember spending my allowance and then some just to play as many Video Games as possible.
Now Video Game technology has progressed so far that the lowly Video Arcade has pretty much disappeared from the Mall landscape in which it was a staple for parents to drop off the kids while they shopped. I know that seem bad but it was almost like the Video Arcade was the perfect babysitter.
The Home Console Systems have progressed in such a way that the graphics on them look a million times better than the Arcade graphics. Originally the Video Arcade was the testing ground for which Video Games would sell millions on Home Consoles, or tank never to be seen in the light of day again.
I think that with such advancements in Gaming technology that the Video Arcade enjoyed the 2 decades of fun that many kids and some parents had. It is easier now to buy a kid a Home Console with all the Games he/she wants, because I think that you would end up having spent that money in a Video Arcade anyway, so might as well buy the kid the Games he/she would have played in the Video Arcade.
