Social Networking and the Masses

One would think that with all the Blogging that I have done about all the other Social Networking sites out there, that I would join one or more of them. The thing is that I have no interest in wanting to join sites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, eHarmony, or Match.com.

The time that I spent on MySpace was sufficient enough. I was on MySpace for almost 2 years, and for 6 months of that I didn't spend more than what seemed like 10-15 minutes worth of time checking out all the goings on with my profile.

To me these types of sites are almost all hype. You are enamored with all the glitter, so to speak, of the site, that you almost have to end up being on such sites for what seems to be an eternity. That is what it felt like for me for the first year and a half that I was on MySpace.

Then after that first year and a half, it felt like I asked myself "Why am I on this website for?". All the hype of being on MySpace seemed to be gone. It was almost boring, to me, to be on MySpace at all. All the shine and sparkle of the website seemed to fade away for me, to the point that I ended up cancelling my MySpace Account.

That is one of the reasons why I don't have any plans of wanting to be on any of the Social Networking sites. It just seems like a big hassle to be on such a site and have it consume almost all of my time outside of work and hanging out with my friends.

I think that is why I have enjoyed Blogging here on Blogger, because Blogger is not like all those other sites out there. Blogger is there as a creative outlet for the Masses and not an all consuming waste of time like those other sites. Its like saying "If you can't find real friend and real companions without such sites, then you really don't deserve to have real friends or real companions at all."
