I understand in many cases that a Blacksmith and a Farrier can be one and the same. I think that a trade such as Blacksmithing can be a very lucrative trade anybody can at least give a try. It is very possible that I may not be very good at being a Blacksmith.
At least I gave it a try and if it doesn't work out, I can say with certainty that I was not meant to be a Blacksmith/Farrier. Given that people can buy the goods all ready made by machines, it just seems in certain areas of industry a hands on approach is the best.
That is why I think being a Blacksmith/Farrier would be a good profession to at least try and see. If such a trade does not work out at least you came away with the basic knowledge of how tools and horse shoes were made before the Industrial Revolution.
I'm sure that some aspects of Blacksmithing are still out there, just not in a great demand since the Industrial Revolution.
