I have watched a program on National Geographic on how in some Cultures Scarification is used as a Rite of Passage. Scarification is a way of displaying ones advancement into Adulthood, or the right to bear children. I'm sure that many Cultures see Americans that have alot of Tattoos, or Body Piercings as weird or down right obscene.
Every Culture has their own way of showing individuality in the way of Rites of Passage. So I have nothing against those Cultures that value Scarification as a Rite of Passage. I doubt I would be the type of person to ever have Scarification done to me, which many people have used Scarification as their own Rite of Passage here in America.
