I do know that if I do nothing else with my life, at least I can Be Myself. Because that is what matters in life is that you are an individual, and the only person that controls where your life ends up is you. I don't want to say that you should never listen to what other people have to say, but you shouldn't let other people control your life.
Everybody is an individual for a reason, and that's the way it should stay. Its OK to have friends, but don't think that your friends control every bit of your life. Friends are there to compliment your life, not control it. So go out there and enjoy your friends, and enjoy the fact that your an individual.
